Agadir to Tiznit in brief
Tiznit is about 90 km south of Agadir on the N1 road — roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car. Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA), the nearest international airport, is a similar distance away because it lies south-east of the city, on the Tiznit side of Agadir.
There are three practical ways to make the trip: a shared grand taxi (fast and cheap, leaving from Inezgane), a long-distance coach (CTM, Supratours and other companies), or a private taxi or transfer — the easiest choice straight from the airport, especially with luggage or after dark.
This guide covers each option in both directions, plus what the drive is like if you hire a car.
Agadir Airport to Tiznit
Private taxi or pre-booked transfer
The simplest option. Airport taxis wait outside arrivals; agree the fare to Tiznit before you set off (fares from the airport are set higher than in-town rates). Many Tiznit riads and hotels can book a driver to meet you — useful for late flights, as public transport stops in the evening.Taxi to Inezgane + grand taxi
The budget route: take a taxi (or an airport bus where one is running) to Inezgane, the big transport hub just south of Agadir, then a shared grand taxi to Tiznit. It costs much less but takes longer, and is best in daylight.Car hire
International and local rental companies have desks at the airport. From the airport, follow signs for Aït Melloul and then the N1 south toward Tiznit — you don't need to drive into Agadir city.Arriving late?
If your flight lands in the evening, either pre-book a transfer or spend the first night near the airport or in Agadir and travel south in the morning.Grand taxi from Inezgane to Tiznit
How it works
Grand taxis are shared long-distance taxis (usually large saloons or minivans). Cars for Tiznit leave from Inezgane's grand-taxi station when every seat is sold. You pay per seat; fares are fixed by route, so ask the driver or the station dispatcher for the current fare and pay the same as other passengers.Tips
- Go to Inezgane, not central Agadir — it's the main hub for southbound taxis
- Ask for "Tiznit" and you'll be pointed to the right line
- Buy two seats if you want more space or have a big bag
- Taxis run most frequently in the morning and early afternoon; evening departures thin out
- From Tiznit back to Inezgane, taxis leave from Tiznit's grand-taxi station
Bus from Agadir to Tiznit
Who runs it
CTM and Supratours run comfortable air-conditioned coaches that call at Agadir and continue south to Tiznit, Guelmim and beyond; several private companies also serve the route. Check timetables and buy tickets on ctm.ma and supratours.ma, or at the bus stations.Good to know
- Coaches are slower than grand taxis but have space for luggage (a small baggage fee may apply)
- Book ahead in summer and around Eid holidays
- In Tiznit, coaches stop at company offices or the bus station in the new town — take a petit taxi to the medina
- Through-coaches from Marrakech and Casablanca to Tiznit also exist; see Getting to Tiznit
Driving the N1: road conditions
The route
From Agadir follow the N1 south through Inezgane and Aït Melloul, then across the Souss plain past Belfaa toward Tiznit. The road is paved throughout and mostly flat. What to expect
- Heavy trucks and slow farm traffic — overtake only with clear visibility
- Speed limits change frequently through villages; police radar checks are common
- Roundabouts at town entrances; give way as signed
- Avoid driving after dark if you can: unlit vehicles, pedestrians and animals are hard to see
- Fuel stations are regular along the route
Parking in Tiznit
Park outside the medina walls or at your hotel; informal parking guardians expect a small tip. Medina lanes are too narrow for most cars.Tiznit to Agadir and the airport
